Divine Mandate of Abraham

The hatred and violence we see today between Muslims, Christians and Jews were born of the same teachings from a man called Abraham. The Arab Israel Conflict is said to be rooted in a Divine Mandate, Biblically recorded, almost 4000 years ago. The story begins with Abraham who was supposedly chosen by God to spread his word and rule a great nation. Abraham was married to Sarah who was barren and unable to have a child to lead the great nation. So, she told Abraham to have sex with their Egyptian servant Hagar in an attempt to have a child. Hagar conceived and Ishmael was born. However, 13 years later Sarah did have a son Isaac, with her husband Abraham. The conflict begins. Sarah asks Abraham to chose Isaac as the rightful heir to the throne, This was a difficult decision.

According to all 3 scriptures (the Bible, the Koran and the Holy Scriptures of Judaism), God calls upon Abraham to sacrifice his son as the greatest test of faith. In the Christian and Jewish Bibles, the son chosen to sacrifice was Isaac. Muslims believe it was Ishmael. Neither son was actually sacrificed, in the end, a ram was sacrificed.

Though the Israelites and Ishmaelites shared a common ancestor, their ultimate destinies were not to be the same. It was said that God favored the descendants of Isaac. It was through them then that God's promises to Abraham would find fulfillment. When Ishmael was cast out his descendents, the Ishmaelites, were free to control their own destiny and to determine their future.

Jews, Christians and Muslims all consider themselves as Abraham's spiritual offspring. The division of Abraham's message into separate religions was a direct result of the two sons. Muslims claim the first born son, Ishmael, who was an apostle, prophet, and the legitimate successor. Christians and Jews believe it can only be Isaac the son resulting from conception within the marriage of Sarah and Abraham.

From these original family feuds, the division between the religions continued to deepen. Christians follow the teachings of Moses, Jesus and Abraham. In Islamic religion, Muslims believe the Prophet Muhammad in the seventh century carried the true word. They believed the teachings of Moses and Jesus to be distortions of the truth for which Muhammad was the remedy. Jews continued their split from Christianity by not accepting the divinity of Jesus as "the son of God". They believe God is spiritual, not flesh, and has no human attributes. Jews also do not believe in original sin nor heaven and hell.

This original Biblical mandate entailed a Divine Promise to Abraham, (patriarch of both the Arabs and the Israelites) of inheriting the Land of Israel, "for the Blessing of all nations" (Gen. 12:3; 18:18; 22:18; 26:4). According to the Bible record, this Divine Mandate of Inheritance of the Land of Israel, proceeded from Abraham, through his son Isaac, to his son Jacob, who became the father of twelve sons from whom descended the Twelve Tribes of Israel. The current conflict over Jerusalem and the Land, intensifies because the Arab nations descend from the same patriarch, Abraham! Their line of descent though, parted from the Divine Hereditary Right of Inheritance of the physical Land, even one generation earlier, through Ishmael, brother of Isaac, the father of Jacob. (Genesis chapters 12 - 30).

Some scholars trace this Biblical conflict to present time and two world leaders George W Bush and Osama Bin Ladin. Many prophecies past and present speak of these conflicts and all future events as the end times. This causes fear and terror in the hearts of man/woman. People feel powerless and victimized by these prophecies and by what they see and hear on the news.

My clients ask me about these prophecies and my response is simply this. A prophecy shows what could be, if one continues along a certain path. Because of free will many prophecies are not fulfilled. The key to whether a prophecy is fulfilled is "the present." The present offers limitless opportunities for people to exert their free will. In fact, free will can only be implemented in the present; the past is gone, and the future has not unfolded. Since our free will is within the framework of Creation, our future is open and not predetermined. The determination and free will of every man and woman is strong enough to influence these events decisively. In regard to prophecies this means that through our actions or inactions, things can develop quite differently from the way in which they were originally prophesized.

I affirm that as a collective consciousness we all focus on, and therefore create Peace. I dedicate today as Peace on Earth day. All those who wish to participate join with me in a moment of prayer for peace. Let's all connect at 12:00 noon this day, wherever you are.
