The Year of the Horse\February 12, 2002 is New Year's Day, a Year of the Black Water Horse. The horse is the seventh in a 12-lunar-year cycle of animal-year signs. The last Year of the Horse began on January 27, 1990 and ended on February 14, 1991. The next Year of the Horse will begin in January 2014. July is the month of the Horse. The time of the Horse is from 11:00 a.m. to 12:59 p.m. Their direction of orientation is the south. The Horse's color is orange. People born during the Year of the Horse have a pleasant, amiable, easygoing disposition, which guarantees popularity and a large following of friends. Blessed with good humor and geniality, they are extremely comfortable to get along with for they have the knack of instantly putting people at their ease. Charming and cheerful, the Horse is an extremely likable character. Hard working, self-possessed and sharp, the Horse skillfully acquires power, wealth and respect. However, the Horse's sometime-appreciated frankness can be tactless. The Horse's impatient pursuit of success may become selfish and predatory. Horses can be obstinate. In truth, they are more cunning than intelligent, and they know it. This is why, despite that air of assurance, the Horse lacks confidence in himself. Above all, the Horse is cut out to be in politics, a career that could bring great personal satisfaction with the opportunity to grind his own axe. He could be a winner here, for he has the facility to sway the crowd. Very quick-witted and he/she is right in there with you before you have had the chance to finish what you were saying; he's on to the thought in your mind even before you've expressed it. This permits the Horse to forestall any arguments that anyone can dream up. With the Horse, movement is everything. Freedom and independence are as essential to Horse-born people as the air they breathe. A low boredom threshold, both in terms of interests and friendships, is characteristic of those belonging to this sign, and adds a whimsical quality to the otherwise level headedness of these folk. Consequently, they tend to act on impulse, and this means there is an element of unpredictability about them. Sometimes they change their minds before completing a project, giving others the impression of irresponsibility. This behavioral pattern of stopping before completion may result from being born halfway through the twelve-sign cycle. Like the symbol by which they are represented, Horse-born people are high-spirited and lively. Their vivacity and enthusiasm make them very popular. With a deft sense of humor, Horses are masters of repartee. They love to take center stage and delight audiences everywhere. Sometimes rash and willful, they can be prone to rapid changes of mood and, although seldom really explosive of temper, when they do see red, it is not a pretty sight. Those who have suffered a Horse's rage will never feel quite the same about him again, for his fits of temper are inevitably a bit childish. If he wants to succeed, he has to master them. Rebelliousness is another difficult Horse trait. Because of his carefree nature, the Horse needs plenty of room for self-expression or he can become bitter and exhibit destructive behavior. Also, the Horse can become overtly jealous and offensive if he senses that someone else is valued more or treated better. He reacts by competing and promoting himself in order to win favor. Resourceful, self-confident and mentally alert, Horses are quick to catch on and efficient in all their undertakings. Because of this ability, this dexterous and incisive mind of theirs, they can make accurate judgments and sound decisions instantaneously. They are particularly skilled at handling money, very often in business dealings following their hunches. When it comes to intuition they have a sixth sense that is quite uncanny. Unfortunately, as the Horse is a creature of changing moods he's liable to lose interest suddenly in things he's taken up, whether it's a love affair, a single deal in business, or a whole career. He'll start again with the same determination, and he'll enjoy an equal success. He can make it in any career that demands neither solitude nor meditation, for he is an extrovert and he needs to be surrounded by people who approve of him and flatter him. Due to their dislike of inactivity, Horses get involved in many sorts of works outside their chosen trade. Good with their hands and attracted to art, they are skillful craftsmen with a talent for innovation. The first and second part of the Horse's life will be full of ups and downs. He will leave his home and family while he is still young, and this will bring its own disappointments. His love life will be by no means smooth. But the third phase of the Horse's life will be a peaceful one. Also, it is better for the Horse if he is born in winter. Otherwise he may become overworked, and work is not his strong point. The Horse in Love When they fall in love, Horses seem to lose all logic, all sense of perspective. Unpredictable at the best of times, when they lose their hearts, there is simply no telling what the Horse-born will do next. These people possess an extremely low boredom threshold and soon get tired of the same people and the same situations. They love their independence and, as soon as they feel a partner is making too many demands or limiting their freedom, they will rebel and gallop off in search of new pastures. Nonconformists, free thinkers, thirsting for life, Horses risk daring romantic adventures. The idea of being married several times does not disturb them, and they adore children. Age eventually mellows the Horse, and those born under its influence who has not found stability when younger are likely to settle down in later life. Conspirators together, the Horse can make his life with the Ram. He also lives in harmony with the Tiger and Dog. These two, intent on the solution of their own psychological problems, will pay no attention to the romantic instability of the Horse. He also has a good relationship with the Rooster, Monkey, and Boar. Under no circumstances must the Horse marry a Rat, in particular if the Horse is female and born under the rare sign of the Fire Horse (1906, 1966, etc.). Any liaison between these two passionate natures can only result in sparks which must lead to conflagration. Horse people make perfect friends, companions and business partners with fellow Horses as well as with Tigers and Dogs, who are within their triangle of affinity. Loyal and selfless, persons of this triangle are staunch and fearless fighters, respected for their courage and aggressiveness. Dragon, Rabbit, Sheep, Monkey and Boar people's relationship with the Horse can range from modest to good, depending on how much they need each other's skills. Ox, Snake and Rooster people need a bit of time to appreciate Horses as friends but they do eventually. Although they can work well together, they may not choose to have a close, meaningful association or a long-term relationship. Horse people and Rats -- mind you, this is all superstition -- are simply an impossible combination. They do not have the same values and priorities, and major conflicts can therefore arise from the way these two types think and deal with their problems. Horse people are known to be cheerful, popular and quick-witted. On the other hand, these unpredictable, perceptive natives can sometimes be hot-tempered, impulsive and headstrong. Devoted and idealistic Horse can fall in and out of love at the drop of a hat and because of this has a reputation for being a playboy or playgirl, but a competitive nature can allow jealousy and suspicion to arise as well. The Horse performs admirably in difficult situations and has a magnetic and commanding personality, which can seem aggressive at times. If he wants to accomplish something and focuses on it, the Horse often excels with incredible passion. However, he is changeable and because of this can give an impression to others of irresponsibility. He goes by his hunches and doesn't understand why everyone else is not as in touch with things as he is. His powers of persuasion and communication are excellent and, if the Horse can acquire some patience, he will succeed in rallying people to support him. The almanac lists the occupations for the Horse: skilled craftsman, technician, long-distance truck driver, foreman, chemist, geologist, biologist, dentist, doctor, architect, financier, painter or poet, explorer, astronaut, barman or hairdresser. Because of their charm and highly developed sense of diplomacy, Horse-born individuals make excellent tacticians, politicians and diplomats. Some important people born in the Year of the Horse are Neil Armstrong, Clint Eastwood, Chris Evert, Billy Graham, Paul McCartney; Barbara Streisand, Raquel Welch, Rembrandt van Rijn, Leonid Brezhnev, Pearl Bailey, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Nelson Mandela, King Faisal of Saudi Arabia, Sean Connery, Aristotle Onassis, Louis Pasteur, Anwar Sadat, Genghis Khan, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, Ulysses S. Grant, Edward VIII the Duke of Windsor, e. e. Cummings, Patty Hearst and Davy Crockett. 2002 This is an erratic year characteristic of the volatile Horse -- a time of victory, adventure, exciting activities, and surprising romances. Decisive action, not procrastination, brings success; those who demur will lose out. Energy is high and production is rewarded. Businesses should prosper -- but good accounting must be maintained otherwise the vagaries of the Horse may see many a commercial venture go to the wall. This will be a similar situation for domestic management where husbandry must be practiced. A Horse year marks the middle of the twelve-branch cycle and is the culmination of activities begun six years ago. Actions and achievements during this important year can influence the direction of the remaining years of the twelve-branch cycle. This should be a commercially buoyant year with a fast tempo where optimism and impulsive action set the tone. On a global scale, expect world economies to become stronger and industrial manufacturing to rise -- or alternately expect economic chaos and collapse, such as World War I in 1918, a yellow Earth Horse year, or the Great Depression in the 1930s, which began in a white Metal Horse year. Under powerful Horse's influence, there is no middle ground. The almanac also states how people born under other signs will fare in the year of the Horse. This is a generally auspicious year for Tigers, Dragons, Horses, Rams, Monkeys, Dogs, and Boars. This could be a difficult year for Oxen and Snakes. The Rat should beware his finances and legal entanglements. Rabbits and Roosters should beware relationships. The following are forecasts for the individual signs in the Year of the Horse: The Rat A difficult, uncomfortable and unpredictable time is in store for the Rat because the Horse is Rat's one enemy. He must be very conservative in assessing his prospects and cautious in all his dealings as the Horse forces him to entertain lavishly, waste money or become tangled in lawsuits. Most of his problems may not be of his own making, but he has to deal with them anyway. This is definitely a time for the Rat to display his fortitude and act with grace under pressure. He may incur large debts or have to guarantee the loans of others. He should be forewarned that any loan made this year might not be repaid. Irritating delays will plague him and even love affairs may not turn out well. This is not an auspicious year for marriage. The Ox The fast and unpredictable Horse will provide a rather unsettling time for the methodical and orderly Ox native. One moment he could be on top of the world and the next he will be fighting battles he never anticipated. Chaos and confusion surrounds him; the Horse is as changeable as the wind and this unnerves the steady, reliable Ox. Financial setbacks and delays make the Ox unable to fulfill his promises or meet his commitments. Stubborn resistance will be useless, and angry reprisals or blind attacks may just make the Ox accident-prone during the reign of the Horse. He will do best by biding his time, consolidating his resources, avoiding excessive work (particularly in the summer) and making conservative estimates until the fall. Matters should definitely quiet down by winter. Business looks up, but the Ox must make sure he takes advantage of this. The Tiger This will be one of the best years in the twelve-year cycle, as things go smoothly for the Tiger in the year of his friend the Horse. The Horse's quick tempo is more to the liking of the active Tiger and the two signs share a love of challenging work and competition. Happiness, love, promotions and recognition will be in store for the Tiger. Idleness must be avoided. It will be an easy time for him to make and save money, and he may receive additional income from unexpected sources. This is a time for him to celebrate his good fortune. There will also be good news on the home front. The Rabbit A good year is in store for the Rabbit with a chance to recover from the previous year's difficulties. His luck will come from meeting helpful people who will be happy to work with him or use their influence on his behalf. Although he will experience no big upheavals, the Rabbit will have to do a great deal of work, travel and entertaining just to keep up with the competition. The perceptive Horse is always fast on its feet, but the Rabbit should have no trouble keeping the pace should he want to join the race. Romance and pleasant surprises (especially in relationships) are foreseen. The Dragon Expect some difficulties in this Horse year of uncertainty and surprises for the Dragon. The energetic Horse may bring news that will temporarily upset or change the Dragon's life. His problems will tend to work themselves out, however, if he is not too headstrong or aggressive. The year of the Horse is capricious and changes occur quickly with little reason. The Dragon will experience considerable unease and insecurity as real and imaginary worries beset him. This could be an adventurous and stressful year for the Dragon who, although he loves excitement, may find the lack of commitment in the Horse's year difficult to accept. Despite it all, the Dragon emerges a leader. The Snake The carefree Horse prances in to give the Snake native an energetic time of misunderstandings and miscommunications. The Snake must refrain from being emotional and hasty if he wants his hopes to be fulfilled. The Horse's year brings many and varied options, but the Horse usually demands a quick response and rapid decisions. The Snake requires more time to mull over choices and will resent ultimatums. He should watch out for disappointments in love as relationships, particularly romantic ones, can suffer this year. He will need every ounce of his common sense to get himself through it. The volatile and hyperactive Horse year could make the Snake nervous and insecure, and his problems and worries could affect his health. He would be wise to take good care of himself and avoid emotional extremes. However, overall the Snake will succeed admirably. His troubles are temporary and will dissipate like the fog, provided he remains calm and philosophical. The Horse This will be a good and prosperous year for most Horses, as recognition or a promotion brings him satisfaction and happiness. However, for the Fire Horse this year could be tragic. For other Horses, plans are realized without much effort and they will be lucky playing their hunches. This is also a year in which the Horse is susceptible to contagious disease, so he must not visit sick people or expose himself unnecessarily. Because he wants to accomplish too much, he may run himself ragged. He should not bite off more than he can chew, nor break off any friendships or partnerships this year. The Ram The Horse, one of the Ram's closest friends, brings happy news during a smooth and eventful year for the Ram native. The Ram faces no major problems at home or at work although he will wind up doing more than his fair share of work. He can get control behind the scenes and could overcome obstacles by using his influence skillfully. A slight illness or infection is indicated, but in general he will prosper this year in spite of a fast pace which is sometimes not to his liking. A problem that has troubled him in the past will turn out to be a blessing in disguise, so he must not give in to pessimism when things do not work out immediately to his satisfaction. Overall, this should be a happy, successful year free of worry under the Horse's positive influence. The Monkey This will be a fair year for the Monkey born although he may be faced with extra work and worries that take up a good deal of his time. Even though competitions and races are not to his taste, the Monkey will nevertheless situate himself into a well-paid job. His frustrations will work themselves out, as the Horse tends to be quite efficient at resolving problems, though not always to the Monkey's satisfaction. However, he must be observant and nimble, as opportunity does not knock twice during the reign of the Horse. It will be a time to take advantage of the moment and to make hay while the sun shines. He should expect the best but be prepared for the worst, and should not underestimate the changeable nature of the capricious Horse. He finds the Horse too independent to follow his rules, and the Horse cannot trust the Monkey's hidden agenda. Therefore, in this year it's best to take whatever he can get as soon as he can get it. Tomorrow, it might not be there. The Rooster The temperamental Horse brings a hectic and somewhat unpredictable year for the Rooster. He may feel overwhelmed by the sudden incidents and abrupt changes. He must watch his step as he could encounter many obstacles in his path. He will pull through if he is not misguided by favorable preliminary results that could turn sour later on. This is a time to play politics or employ diplomacy, as the Rooster will have to make unwelcome compromises and will be amused by this year's changes only to the extent that they do not threaten his security. On the work front, he is likely to have both good and bad news. The Horse's year tends to change course without much notice and this catches the Rooster off guard, making him distrust the motives of others. If the Rooster can learn to be adaptable to change and keep his opinions to himself, he should be able to find help from his close friends and loved ones. He should not allow his security to be threatened. The Dog Because the Horse is one of Dog's closest friends, he can expect an outstanding fast-paced year and a time of expansion and progress. Promotions and real financial gains are indicated; he will be at the peak of his power and good fortune. There may be unhappy news at home or misunderstandings in affairs of the heart as the Dog tries to please everyone and stretches his time and resources. He may insure the loss of a small belonging or investment due to speculation. The Dog will entertain or travel a lot this year, chasing promising opportunities. He will have to use his wits a great deal, but new friends and contacts will provide him with assistance and open doors for him. Health wise, he must guard against over exhaustion and learn to pace himself. The Boar This will be a good year for the Boar with less turmoil provided he avoids speculation or entrusting his money to untrustworthy, newfound friends and gets down to organizing himself. The Horse brings the Boar benefits formerly withheld from him but which now appear from all directions, turning past problems into blessings in disguise. The year will prove fortunate and prosperous for the Boar's family and career, and his romantic problems should ease. However, the Horse sets a fast pace and the Boar must keep up or he will lag behind and miss out on some of the action. Hopefully, the strong Boar has the stamina and willpower to ride out this year with more gains than losses. May this year be all that your heart and soul desire. I look forward to sharing another years adventure with you. Thank you for you continued support through referrals. In Light | |||
